Dyslexia Unlearned was founded in 1998 by Marlene Easley.

Marlene Easley is a certified public school teacher in Washington State. She has taught children and adults for over 30 years in public and private schools, specialized learning centers and daycare. As a child she experienced the education system as a dyslexic. As an adult she went on to choose teaching as her profession and a way to open the doors to learning and make a visible difference in the lives of others. Marlene has unique insight into both assessing and meeting the needs of visual-spatial learners. She has provided hundreds of programs to individuals and taught dozens of teachers to integrate many of the same techniques with their current curriculum. Marlene is well known for her innate ability to connect with people, to discern weak areas in learning and to provide sustainable methods to overcome learning difficulties. Her compassion and genuineness are palpable and contribute greatly to the openness of those who work with her.

Marlene has achieved all levels of training as a facilitator, teacher trainer and school mentor using the methods outlined in "The Gift of Dyslexia" and "The Gift of Learning" by Ronald Davis. Currently Marlene works independently of the Davis Dyslexia Association International and is not affiliated with them.  In addition, she has presented these and her own ideas to individuals, home school conventions, the Washington State Juvenile Corrections Convention, groups of teachers in workshops, and through school mentoring programs.

It is Marlene’s desire for all children to be equipped with the tools best suited to his or her method of learning and she believes this can only be accomplished by wide spread understanding and acceptance in the public education system.
